Many oral surgery procedures such as the removal of wisdom teeth, cosmetic (gum) or periodontal (gum/bone) surgery can be done in our office in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with conscious sedation.

Your third molars are more commonly called “wisdom teeth.” Usually appearing in the late teens or early twenties, third molars often lack the proper space in the jaw to erupt fully or even at all. This common condition is called impaction. When any tooth lacks the space to come through or simply develops in the wrong place of your jaw and becomes impacted, problems can arise. Primarily, damage to adjacent teeth and crowding occur. In certain cases, the wisdom tooth that cannot come through becomes inflamed under the gums and in the jawbone and will need to be removed surgically.

If you’re not happy with the appearance of your smile, Dr. Mark can suggest a number of options to correct the aesthetics of your teeth and gums. Cosmetic surgery has become more popular than ever before, and now many procedures exist that can give you the smile you’ve always dreamed about. Surgery can correct “gummy smiles,” gum recession, missing teeth and other cosmetic problems. Root coverage procedures can be performed to cover exposed tooth roots to protect them from decay and further recession.

For some dental conditions where periodontal disease has affected the health of your smile, Dr. Mark may recommend periodontal surgery when non-surgical treatment is ineffective. We may advise procedures such as pocket reduction, soft tissue grafts or bone regeneration to treat periodontal disease. If a tooth has been lost due to periodontal disease, dental implants are always an option for permanent tooth replacement.
